San Gabriel Valley Housing
Affordable housing resources
If you need housing help today, the organizations below can actually place you on a waiting list, issue a voucher, or open a shelter door. We can't — see why below.
SGV Housing is not a government agency, a housing authority, or a nonprofit. We are an independent real estate and development advisory. We cannot issue vouchers, place you on a waiting list, or determine your eligibility for any program below — only the agencies themselves can. This page exists because people have called us believing we were the Housing Authority; we are not, and we want you to reach the right place faster than we could help you ourselves.
Need help today
211 LA County
The 24/7 entry point for emergency shelter, rent relief, and housing crisis support anywhere in LA County. Call or text 211. Start here if you need help today.
Vouchers & Section 8
LA County Development Authority (LACDA)
Administers Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, public housing, and affordable-housing waiting lists for most of unincorporated and contract LA County, including much of the San Gabriel Valley.
Baldwin Park Housing Authority
Administers Section 8 vouchers and public housing for Baldwin Park and, by contract, El Monte, Monrovia, South El Monte, and West Covina.
Regional & city programs
San Gabriel Valley Regional Housing Trust
A joint powers authority of 25 SGV member cities that funds and finances the construction of affordable and homeless housing across the valley — not a direct-assistance line for individuals, but the entity behind many of the region's affordable projects.
City of Pasadena, Department of Housing
Pasadena runs its own Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program and affordable-housing development pipeline, separate from the county authority.
Pomona Housing Authority
Pomona runs its own housing authority under Neighborhood Services, administering Section 8 and the city's affordable-housing programs separately from the county authority.
City of El Monte, Housing Division
El Monte's own Economic Development Department runs the city's affordable-housing programs.
City of Alhambra, Housing Division
Alhambra's own Housing Division administers Section 8 and local housing resources for the city.
Most San Gabriel Valley cities don't run their own housing department — they're served by LACDA above. Only cities with their own department are listed here individually.
What SGV Housing does
We are a development and land-use advisory for property owners and small-scale investors, and an independent civic resource tracking what's being built across the valley. We do not administer housing assistance. If you're a landowner evaluating development potential, that's where we can help.
